An Expedition of the Blue Ridge Mountains 1/26/23

For my readers, this one’s for you.

I recently went on a work assignment trip with my mom to explore the Blue Ridge Mountains on the Virginia Scenic Railway Train, which is a new tourist attraction.

If there’s one word to describe Central Virginia, it would be:

Peaceful.

While I do not like to mix my news reporting content and blogging content together (to avoid being objective), going on this expedition was very beautiful.

We decided to wait here at this cute coffee shop right next to the train stop for me to interview the president of Buckingham Branch Railway.

From Staunton to Ivy, the trip was about three hours. The train did not move too fast, but it was quite bumpy and windy because these train tracks were meant more for freight trains, which move at 60 mph.

Here are some of the pictures I took along the way:

Central Virginia and the Valley are often misconstrued as being in the “boondocks” or “in the middle of nowhere.” However, it’s beginning to grow with businesses and younger residents moving there because of the more “affordable” options for housing. After almost a year of living here, people will never realize how peaceful the scenery is or how welcoming the people are, and how Southern hospitality is embedded in this region.

I would’ve posted this way earlier, but a lot of writing projects for the TNV are in the works that I must prioritize.

Til next time!
