She’s Getting Old. // Somewhere in VA

“Thou Shall Not Fuck Up an Asian Baddie Friendship.”

This is such an overdue post. I would’ve posted this travel story much earlier last year, but I didn’t have enough time and dedication to remain active. But I’m glad that aside from just starting my grad school fall semester, beginning my second news reporting career and living and spending time with my family, I was able to make time for one of my best friends, Sherry’s, 31st birthday in the boondocks. She’s getting OLD. NOOOO.

The cliche saying, ‘you are who you attract,’ often applies to relationships, but it can also apply to friendships. I’m the type of person who can be friendly towards many people, but it’s hard for me to maintain any close friendships. Throughout my life, I’ve had friends who come and go, the connection and chemistry often die out, someone wrongs the other or we simply grow apart. This was always something normal to me and one of the reasons why I’m so used to being alone. However, as I’ve matured with age, I started attracting a crowd of people who all have creative outlets, are nonjudgemental and are very loyal to one another.

Plus, I think Sherry’s birthday was a way for me to get the hell away from the City a little bit and celebrate her day with the people she loves (but, also annoys the living shit out of her.) Out of respect and gatekeeping, I’m not disclosing the location, but … let’s just say it took a lot of routes to get there and it’s in the coastal area of Virginia. I drove with one of my best friends, Camille, about an hour to a small Airbnb, where our other friends were. We then grabbed a good brunch with the bunch and took some sexy photos (we’re all hot here — come on, now), and group photos. Vibes were laid back. It’s just like how being on vacation with friends should be!

As the afternoon rolled around, we hit the beach, a serene riverside cove right next to a private property. Wasn’t a big fan of the cold water though. :(

Misu!!!

…. But I did take some unfiltered thirst trap pics. ;)

As evening rolled around, we all got quickly ready for our 7:30 reservations at this pretty expensive restaurant right on the riverside. The views were absolutely beautiful

Almost all of us wore black — also very well-dressed compared to half of the people in the restaurant, who wore polos and Bermuda shorts — yeah, we totally looked like we came from the City.

The pictures can probably speak for themselves. :)

Love ya Sherry!!! <3

Though it would have been better to post earlier, with the New Year falling into place and me becoming more fulfilled every day, this little trip was a reminder of how I have amazing friends and am so fortunate enough to be surrounded by a supportive group of people. Cheers to a New Year and Cheers to having beautiful friends.
