Put a (or Five) Ring on It // High Color Jewels —Summer Edit

As I write this post, fall is returning once again. Cloudier days are rapidly approaching, winds are blowing, rain droplets can be heard outside my window pane and the leaves slowly fades from a lush green to yellow tints.

It’s like nature is grieving the loss of warmth and its vitality.

But I remember this hot and humid July afternoon like it was yesterday. High Color Jewels, a Richmond-based jewelry brand, contacted me once more after shooting back in May for the release of their newest ring collections.

At this point, I wouldn’t be surprised if Katie called me to be the spokesmodel for the brand, ha.

She says she’s very picky over her models and wants models with a elegant or sophisticated look. I don’t blame her, since the brand and its jewelries sell very elegant, but fun styles, so it should reflect upon the model, too.

We all met up at Maymont Park in Richmond during the golden hour. We shot mainly around the greenery area where the cobblestone steps were located (Bear with me, it’s been a while since I’ve been to Maymont). Not only a photoshoot was happening, but a proposal happened as we heard cheers from the background.

Katie and her husband, Will, told me the business was going well, as more inquiries were coming in. In fact, there are more jewelries collections coming along the way…

Once again, I felt like a million bucks. From moonstones, emeralds, diamonds, and zircon, for that one moment I was a glamorous woman again. In fact, to commemorate the release of the Barbie movie, Katie designed a “Barbie-inspired” tourmaline stone-ring shaped into a heart.

The more rings that were placed on me, the more I knew I had to be careful to either not break it stone or even lose one. Luckily, no stones fell off of my tiny fingers. Whew.

Now that fall has arrived, I look back upon the memories made in this short time span.

I don’t grieve the end of summer, instead it’s a sigh of relief somehow. I’ll cover up in sweaters and leather pants, topped off with knee-high boots. I feel like I would have more leverage with my style because I have a chance to layer on clothes. But, we shall see…

Until the next fashion post! Stay tuned for RVA Fall Fashion Week,
