4 Designer Bag Brands Worth Investing In for Work

Every girl (and guy, because why not?) deserves a designer bag.

You might ask, “Why?”

Well, my friend, there is nothing better than investing yourself in a stylish, but high-quality bag that you can be able to carry to work.

Work bags have such a neutral and timeless tone to them that can fit into any occasion you’re going to. But, we’re not talking about Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Gucci or Christian Dior. We don’t have $10,000 lying around in the bank for a bag. But, we need something to carry our work materials and personal items wherever we go without the fear of them ripping apart. That would be very embarrassing.

Here are some work bags worth investing in (and can help save some money in the long run):

Long Champ Large Le Pliage Tote ($155)

This bag has lasted me for over five years during my undergraduate and post-college years. This French brand is really popular in Europe, as well as in the United States because of its versatility and fabric quality. The fabric is made from nylon and has a genuine leather trim for the handles, which means it’s water-resistant and easy to stuff in whatever belongings you have in the bag—as opposed to polyester—which can wear and tear easily over time. In addition, the bag comes in a foldable design, so even if you’re not using it or traveling, you can fold it up and snap it in place!

North Face’s Base Camp Voyager Tote ($89)

Not exactly on the designer side, but North Face is a brand that is for the constant travelers and sporty/athletic people who are investing in high-quality products. This highly-durable tote includes a laptop sleeve, as well as sewn-in compartments for other items to be organized. The fabric is made of recycled polyester and ballistic nylon, which is perfect for carry-on when traveling!

Marc Jacobs’ The Large Tote Bag ($225)

You may think this is an overrated bag, but Marc Jacob’s is arguably one of the most ‘affordable’ designer brands around. This tote bag may be made out of cotton, but it is really sturdy for work and everyday use. Plus, you gotta love the simplistic, but iconic Marc Jacob’s logo on the front of the bag!

Cole Haan’s Women's Grand Ambition Convertible Puff Backpack Bag ($328)

For the people who want to carry a work tote and backpack all in one bag, this was made specifically for you! This leather backpack/tote has two sets of straps, which can be worn on your back or carried by your arm. Not only is it great for traveling carry-on with its puffy exterior, but it also provides room for a laptop and other necessities within the sewn-in spaces.

While there are good bags that can arguably be found at generic retail stores such as Target or Marshalls, avoid those hit-or-miss options and spend a little hard-earned money on something you’ll be able to keep for a very long time.
